Aluminium Fluoride

AlumoFluor (AlF3) is an inorganic compound in powdered form and is classified as a top-quality product containing min. 96% of active substance.

AlumoFluor is low-density aluminium fluoride. It is produced using hexafluorosilicic acid, the product extracted during phosphoric acid production process, and neutralizing it with aluminium hydroxide.

It is mainly used as a catalyst for the production of primary Aluminium metal. Aluminium fluoride essentially lowers the melting point of the alumina feed. Together with cryolite, it increases the electrolytes conductivity of the solution, reducing the electric power consumption which leads to the reduction of production costs of aluminium.

Depending on the quality of AIF3 as essential catalyst, the quantity of 10-25kg is required for production of 1Mt of Aluminium.

One of the purest globally available AlF3

Purity and Flowability

  • SiO2 < 1.000ppm
  • Fe2O3 < 100ppm
  • P2O5 < 100ppm
  • Average flowability less than 140 seconds

Environmental Friendly Production

AlumoFluor is manufactured in accordance with the Green Tech principles:

By-product of chemical industry

As a raw material, we use a by-product of chemical industry, the reuse of which creates new value and protects the environment

CO2 neutral source

The technology uses electricity produced from CO2 neutral source (Đerdap Hydropower Plant)

Cleanest energy sources

LPG energy is also used as one of the cleanest energy sources (liquefied gas)

Reliable Supplier

The production of AlumoFluor officially started in mid-February 2021.

The state-of-the-art German equipment that meets all the requirements of modern industrial production is used in the production process. The manufacture of AlumoFluor is organized in an upgraded AIF3 plant that used to operate from 1982 to 1999.

Logistics

Prahovo is located on the bank of the river Danube, right on the threepoint border of Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.

Transhipment capacity of Prahovo Port is over a million and a half tons per annum.

River transport

Towards the east, the Danube connects Prahovo directly to the Black Sea (626 km) and Constanta, the most important harbour in the region, with a reloading capacity of 100 million tonnes per year.
Northward, the Danube connects Prahovo to the countries of the Danube basin, all the way to Germany. Through the Rhine-Main- Danube Canal it is connected to Rotterdam and the North Sea, as well as to Mannheim.

Rail transport

There is a well-developed rail infrastructure with a number of industrial tracks within the port, and the whole existing complex is connected to the Serbian Railways system and the international rail network.

Road transport

Prahovo is connected with around 50 km of road to Vidin in Bulgaria, and Calafat in Romania, both of which are important road and rail hubs on the European Corridor 4. Some 150 km from Prahovo there is the European Corridor 10, a highway that connects our complex and Serbia with other European countries.
